Elm Street Community Garden Cleanup
Spring is here and the Elm Street Community Garden needs your help! Join your neighbors for a morning of weeding, mulching, and bed preparation to get the garden ready for the growing season.
Alice Johnson coordinates the community garden and will be on site to direct volunteers and assign tasks. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just want to get your hands dirty, there’s a job for you.
Volunteer tasks:
- Clearing winter debris and weeds
- Spreading fresh mulch and compost
- Repairing raised beds and pathways
- Setting up the new rain barrel system
All tools and gloves are provided, but feel free to bring your own favorites. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and sturdy closed-toe shoes. We’ll break for coffee and donuts at 10:30 AM courtesy of the Boiler Room Cafe.
The cleanup runs from 9 AM to noon. No sign-up required — just show up at the garden plots behind the Elm Street Park pavilion. Community service hours are available for students. Nothing grows on Elm Street without a little neighborhood effort.
