Springwood Emergency Preparedness Day
Is your household ready for the unexpected? Springwood Emergency Preparedness Day is a free, family-friendly event at the Community Center designed to help residents plan for emergencies of all kinds.
Donald Thompson, retired Springwood police chief and current emergency preparedness coordinator, has organized a full day of workshops, demonstrations, and resources. Local fire, police, and EMS teams will be on site with equipment displays and hands-on activities.
Schedule:
- 11:00 AM — Building your family emergency plan
- 12:00 PM — Lunch break (free hot dogs and water)
- 12:30 PM — Basic first aid and CPR demonstration
- 1:30 PM — Severe weather preparedness
- 2:30 PM — Emergency kit building station (take one home!)
Each family that attends can build a free starter emergency kit to take home, including a flashlight, batteries, first aid basics, and an emergency contact card. Because on Elm Street, the real nightmare is being caught unprepared.
All workshops are drop-in — attend one or stay for the full day. Kids are welcome at all sessions.
